Need an escape to the “sin city” of Oz? The Gold Coast’s neon lights and glamour are sure to tempt. Search for cheap flights to the Gold Coast onboard low cost carriers like V Australia and JetStar Air. Qantas Airways also offers flights to the Gold Coast (OOL) from Sydney.
The Gold Coast is a lush place to visit if you’re looking for sand and sun with consistent temperatures year-round. Avoid mid-November to mid-December like the plague! Tens of thousands of school leavers descend onto this place and while it’s probably fun for them, it can be a nightmare for everyone else.
Direct flights to the Gold Coast take just over 1 hour from Sydney.
The Gold Coast is often likened to places like Las Vegas and Miami. High-rise apartment blocks, ginormous shopping malls, million-dollar theme parks and one long golden strip of sand welcome more than 2 million tourists every year. The surfing is great and the nightlife is even better.
Surfers Paradise: Ready to party? Surfers Paradise is a hyper little place with nightclubs and shopping malls and entertainment. The best part is, it caters to everyone from martini-drinking folk to dance floor-slamming youth.
Lamington National Park: Lamington National Park is Australia’s largest remaining subtropical rainforest and an UNESCO World Heritage site with more than 160 kilometres of hiking trails. The tree-top canopy walk along the Green Mountains is not to be missed.
Coolangatta: Coolangatta is a quiet little place in the southern part of Queensland with good beaches for lounging and good waves for surfing. It’s a great spot to hit if you want to get away from the neon lights and chaos of central Gold Coast.
